Shanghai – Yu Zhi Lan 

Since June 2018, Allstar Communications has partnered with Sichuan cuisine restaurant Yu Zhi Lan in Shanghai. The low-profile restaurant has gradually gained public attention and has scooped one Michelin star for two consecutive years, becoming the only Michelin-starred Sichuan restaurant in Shanghai and a second-time Black Pearl One Diamond restaurant. Yu Zhi Lan has since received extensive international media coverage as we work together to bring Sichuan cuisine to the global stage.  

Yu Zhi Lan, first launched in Chengdu in 2011, was founded by master chef Lan Guijun, the creator of Chicken Feet with Pickled Peppers. Opened in April 2018, Yu Zhi Lan Shanghai is housed in a private villa in the downtown area of Julu Road, with Chef Luo Qilong, who studied under Chef Lan, as the head chef. “To position with soup, to frame with ingredients, and to forge the spirit with flavouring”, Lan Guijun’s philosophy is well illustrated at Yu Zhi Lan. Traditional Sichuan cuisine has a big focus on the variety of flavour types, demonstrated in its old saying of “one hundred dishes have one hundred flavours”. Incorporating original flavours of ingredients and seasoning techniques, Yu Zhi Lan instils its own culinary philosophy into the 24 flavour types in Sichuan cuisine to produce nuanced and balanced flavours with exquisite presentation.
