The second edition of the Chengdu Michelin Guide was officially released and held an award ceremony on October 25. Silver Beach Restaurants Group has gained fruitful results with its Silver Cottage and Hidden Place being listed among Michelin selected restaurants, and Silver Pot scooping one star. The 11 newly awarded star restaurants received the honour at the ceremony, including 1 two MICHELIN Star restaurants, 10 one MICHELIN Star restaurants. Besides, there were also 15 Bib Gourmand restaurants and 31 selected restaurants (formerly MICHELIN Plate). A special award – the MICHELIN Service Award – was also announced.
Since its inception, Silver Cottage has been offering a panoramic immersive Song Dynasty banquet experience. It took inspiration from the famous figure painting Xi Yuan Ya Ji Tu (Elegant Gathering in the Western Garden) by Li Gonglin of the Song Dynasty. The restaurant restores the exquisite aesthetics of the East as its brand concept, bringing guests together on the present-day Luhu Lake to experience the traditional rituals of a Song banquet and the beauty of Song people’s elegant lifestyle. Following the ancient Chinese proverb “Sow in spring to grow in summer, reap in autumn and stock up for winter”, Silver Cottage values food’s body-nourishing properties while honouring the concept of seasonality. With a cup of fragrant tea, a group of three or two friends can enjoying the time together writing poems, burning incense, and satiating exquisite Sichuan cuisine. This is a perfect hideaway from the hustle and bustle of the city life, offering oriental aesthetics and aura of traditional Song daintiness.
Ms. Zhou Ziling, the founder of Silver Cottage, grew up in Sichuan and is known as a “food hunter”, as she is the Deputy Secretary General of the Chengdu Gourmet Promotion Association, Vice President of the Sichuan Gourmet Association, member of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs, and Global Promotion Ambassador of Hanyuan peppercorn. With a passion for food, she established the Silver Beach Restaurants Group in 2002 and has since embarked on a journey searching for the ultimate delicacy. She has travelled to more than 40 countries in search of the best ingredients and has translated avant-garde culinary concepts into her own restaurant’s reality. Withholding ancient Chinese philosophy of “the way of nature”, Zhou has pioneered the first ever Hanyuan Peppercorn Flavour Laboratory in China, in the hope to explore more flavour possibilities and bring the dishes of Chengdu to the world. Having established restaurants including Silver Beach, Hidden Place and Silver Pot, Zhou has collected numerous accolades such as the Black Pearl One Diamond for five consecutive years, Michelin One Star in 2021, and nearly 100 acclaims from domestic and international restaurant industry over the past 20 years.
